The treatment will be done in the dental office using a local anesthetic to ensure the comfort of the patient during treatment. The first step is placing the implants into the jaw bone. After this surgical treatment, the bone in the jaw attaches to the implants, holding them firmly in place. The attachment of bone to the implant usually takes four to six months. The second stage of the treatment is the uncovering or activation of the implant. At this time the top of the implant is uncovered so that the healing screw can be removed and a metal cylinder or post screwed into position. After this second surgical treatment, it takes several weeks for the gum to heal. The third stage of the therapy is the part everyone wants the most, the permanent tooth, teeth or denture are securely attached to the inserted cylinders or posts.
